Can you do a post that’s about you, like just an about me blog just to get to know the girl behind this blog?
I’ll try to get to that soon! Any new updates on school? You haven’t been posting :( I know, I’m so sorry. I’ve been so busy with school and work.. so many projects going on at one. As of an update, I’m working on my final projects. I’m starting on my pop up shop for Nina Ricci, designing an in-store plan for Scooters (the logo I made - but I’m completely changing it!), and another store in drafting. My other classes are pretty simple.

You said that they provide all the supplies at FIDM, but when a pen or marker etc. runs out , is it your job to buy a new one? And at the end of the quarter, do you give all the materials back or do you get to keep them for yourself?
The answer is yes, if you run out, you run out! But honestly, you won’t run out. Not for the quarter at least. They should last you for a reaaaally long time. I mean, pens always run out.. mine is barely running out now. I have left over paint, and new ones I haven’t even touched yet. I have so many posters and paper.. I have a lot of stuff I didn’t even use last quarter, but they will come to use later on, trust me. They are all for you to keep. It’s part of tuition.

Do you have any new outfit of the day pictures from school or anywhere? Lemme look through my pictures and see :) Any new projects?!
I have yet to take pictures because they’re all in progress right now.

When do you register for your summer quarter?
And do you already know what classes you’re going to be taking or planning on taking? I think beginning of next month. I don’t know what classes yet because there’s a lot they aren’t offering for the summer and I’m a little ahead, so I’d be taking second year courses, but they don’t even offer them. So I have to figure it out =/

Final product. My teacher said “It’s very modern and romantic.. and that’s something a lot of people can’t do.” :D

It’s very simple and clean. I kept it minimal and wanted to implement the femininity and delicate feel through the use of vellum panels and hand crafted flowers. I’m very happy with the outcome. 10 hours (that looks like 1 hour) of hard work paid off.

do you have any recent pictures of projects and/or just pictures of life on campus in SF at FIDM? Or your out and about adventures in the city?
No sorry, I don’t. The only time I “adventure” in the city is when we have field trips. Lol. As of projects, yes.. I’ll be uploading those soon. I’m currently working on one right now.

Were you planning on switching your major or staying with VComm, and what were your plans after getting your AA in VComm? Bachlors, Masters?
No, I plan on staying with VComm and get my BA in Business.

Do you go shopping a lot when you go to the city especially with the campus being right in the heart of Union Square? And do you shop a lot in general?
Lol, GIRL. I go to FIDM. That’s $$$$$, I have nothing left to go shopping hahah. I wishhhhh :(

I finally made a Pintrest. I could be on there FOREVER! Here’s few favorites I saved. I plan on printing them and putting them together in a binder or something for reference. I want to create some projects out of these, hopefully I find time to!

I’m gravitated towards sleek modern designs. I love basic shapes and clean lines. Most of all, I love love love simplicity. I truly believe less is more. Enjoy.

I was aaaalways into typography before I even knew such a thing existed. In middle school, I could be on photoshop all day trying to create banners out of simple lines and text types. Switching letters around, changing the scales, adding and subtracting from the actual text types.. I love this because of the simplicity and asymmetry, another thing I love - balance, but not completely symmetric.

Another example of typography design. I love script. I’m very picky with script, but I’m in love with this one.

I don’t really like wearing bracelets, I wish I did.. Lol. I love the layering and stacking of different bracelets. I’m gonna attempt to make this.

I don’t even know what tools that you would need to create this, but I WILL do this! I love the whole concept of it, cute right?!

I’ve always wanted to create lanterns this way. Very simple.

I will have a room like this in my future home.

Clean lines, mixed patterns, but all related analogous color scheme. Very visually appealing.

Once I’ve seen this, I knew I wanted to make my own. Canvas + Xmas lights. Genius - simple and easy, and cheap!

Absolutely in LOVE with this. Perfect summer nights. Cozy, romantic, chill, and just beautiful.

Made from melted plastic spoons over a candle. Could come in handy for future projects.

Super jealous - I will have my own design room.

I seriously feel like I can make something like this with help of course!

Feminine and romantic, but modern with the use of chalkboard paint! I would want a chalkboard wall in my future kitchen :)

Do you use any hair products? if so, what are they? and what brand are the hair tools you use?
I don’t use anything on my hair but hairspray when I curl/wave my hair. I love Aussie products, their hairspray is the best and it smells good too! I don’t really use any special hair tools, it’s just what I’ve been having for years… My straightener broke, I should get a new one soon.. lol.

Are you allowed to switch your major at FIDM? Like if you didn’t like Vcomm, can you switch to another major such as merchandise marketing, or no?
Absolutely! You’re not like committed to one major once you enter… though it wouldn’t be a good idea to be jumping around lol. But yes, definitely. You would just have to pay the tuition difference, though switching from VComm to anything else wouldn’t apply because VComm is the most expensive major.

Where do you like to shop for certain clothes? Like for shoes (wedges, boots, pumps), for jeans, for shirts/ blouses? And do you have any pictures of the outfits you wear to school?
Honestly, I haven’t been shopping in so long.. my go-to stores are Forever, H&M, and Cotton On. I don’t have any specific stores that I like to go to for certain items, I just but whatever I see and like when I shop. I don’t have any pictures of my outfits, sorry =P

Do you have any tips on how to shop at thrift stores?
Have time, because trust me! If you’re really going on treasure hunt, you’ll need more than an hour. Lol, I’m amazed at how long I’m actually in there looking for clothes. I mean for one thing, you’re not in retail store where you see one thing in a whole different colors and styles, there’s only ONE of everything and you really have to look for what you like. Another thing is to try on stuff! You’ll surprise yourself to see how things fit. Also, be mindful of how you can alter the clothing too, with accessories or scissors ;)

Do you wear any makeup and if you do, are there any products you recommend? And where do you get your eyebrows done? Do you get them waxed or threaded? I really like your brows! :)
Yes I do :) The daily basic products I use right now are Kat Von D’s Tattoo liquid liner, MAC Pro Longwear concealer, bareMinerals power, Urban Decay blush in Score/MAC blush in Style/NARS blush in Orgasm faaaaaaaves, ELF Studio mascara - one of the best best best mascaras I have ever used in my life. Those are like, my true daily products that are a must must must. I get my eyebrows done at this one local place in Newark for like $13 and I get them threaded. And thank you :)

What do you think are a girl’s necessary clothing item she has to have in her closet? It can be more than one thing! And accessories, too!
LEGGINGS! Oversized tanks, tees, long sleeve shirts. High waisted neutral toned belts.. and a leather jacket! True necessities to me, basic comfortable pieces that you can wear any season!

Thrifttown. And I love it there because it’s hella big and clean! And they have sales everyday (either shoes/clothes/toys/etc) and other big sales like 30% everything when I went!

No, it goes by how many units you have.. I think it’s broken down to 3 or 4 ranges of units, each having their day when they can register. But since the more units you have, means you would register for the later classes left to graduate, meaning I (being that I’m early in the program) would have my classes I need. It all works out pretty much, but of course they are people who get to the better classes (time/day) first sometimes =P

career wise, what kinds of things/jobs can you get with V.comm? other than widow displays.

Personal shopper/buyer, retail visual coordinating, stylist (wardrobe/film/product/photo), store planning, set designing, event planning, prop master, set dresser, set shopper, public relations, market coordinating, fashion director, fashion show coordinating, wedding/special events coordinating, exhibit designing, advertising……….. annnnnnnnnd, hella more. Basically anything that needs to be designed. You can do freelancing stuff too, or shift to other things like.. marketing, which I’m interested in. I believe anyone in V Comm can shift to any design career, that’s why we major in this program.. because we’re visuaaaal peopleeee. I mean, some girl in my class wants to style food, forgot what it’s called.. but she wants ta make food look fancy ;) Like restaurant presentation or something idk. It’s not just window displaying lol.

For your first quarter at FIDM, on what days did you have class? And were you able to get enough hours at work while still having time to do hw and such, too?

I had class everyday but Thursday. I wasn’t getting many hours to begin with, so I had a lot of extra time. For it being my first quarter, classes were relatively “easy” so it wasn’t too hard for me to balance my time. As of this quarter, it’s a whole different story -__- I’m getting hella hours and the classes I’m taking require a couple hours a week to get work done! I’m a bit overwhelmed. It’s not that I don’t have time to do what I need too, I just need to sacrifice other things like hanging out with friends, running, or just RESTING! :(

Where are good places to thrift in SF? I love the things you picked up!!

Been a stressful, overwhelming week, and it’s still going. My life has been all school/work/church, literally. Miss anti-social indeed. Next week will be exactly the same. I’m starting to think I can’t handle this many hours at work! It’s only because of the classes I’m taking this quarter.. too many projects = too many hours. I’ll have a life by next weekend.

Oh, and what sucks even more.. I work Saturday and Sunday this weekend. And my Sundays? Church 9-2, work 430-830. There’s no Mother’s Day for me, let alone a weekend.

Sigh. Focused.

Today we had special guests come to talk about their local businesses, themed I Heart SF. Irene from Wonderland SF, gallery and boutique, caught my attention and got me really interested in what she does.

Wonderland SF Gallery and Boutique open its doors in San Francisco Mission District 2010, with the purpose of discovering and aiding Bay Area fashion designers, painters, photographers.

The goal is to provide exposure and create new opportunities for local artists. Wonderland SF is the foremost independent showcase in San Francisco for emerging fashion and art.

With art openings the first Thursdays of each month, Wonderland SF gives people the chance to find creations that can be found no where else.

There will be an event going on on May 28th in the city showcasing 300 artists and designers. Unfortunately I can’t attend because it’s a 21+ event, but she did say she needs help setting up! So I’m excited for that. Because most events are 21+ interning isn’t an option for me at the moment. I plan on stopping by the shop to see what she has.

She also inspired me because she does all of the business management, which is something I definitely want to do aside from just design. I am planning on getting my masters in business and thinking about going into Public Relations. There’s so many places I want to go! I want to do it all.
